The affordable UTK Red Light Therapy Device provides a convenient way to incorporate red light therapy into your routine because it’s 100% portable and super easy to use.
It offers more therapeutic wavelengths than any other red light therapy torch on the market and I’ve had great results with localized pain relief, Psoriasis reduction, and wound healing.
However, it’s best suited for targeted treatment areas rather than larger body areas, and the charging time is long.

Overview
What is the UTK Red Light Therapy Device?
The UTK red light therapy device (which is one of the many red light therapy home devices I have) uses LED phototherapy to promote healing, pain and inflammation reduction, skin anti-aging, regeneration and cells and tissues, and improved performance of the targeted area.
It has 5 different wavelengths delivered through 5 medical-grade LEDs (3 watts each):
1. Blue at 430 nm – proven to destroy acne-causing bacteria.
2. Visible red at 630 nm – proven to heal wounds and repair the skin.
3. Visible red at 660 nm – proven to stimulate collagen production and regenerate cells.
4. Invisible near-infrared at 850 nm – deeper penetrating and proven to reduce inflammation and pain, and recharge the energy of cells (ATP)
5. Invisible infrared at 950 nm – deepest penetrating and reaches up to 3 cm into the body. It is felt as very low heat and reaches deeper tissues such as joints, muscles, nerves, and bones.
The longer the wavelength, the deeper it penetrates into the tissues.
👉 Red light wavelengths are best for skin issues, such as wounds, wrinkles, pigmentation, eczema, etc.
👉 Near-infrared wavelengths are best for deep-tissue inflammation, pain, degeneration, injuries, etc.
The simple button on the device allows you to choose from 3 different treatment modes, each combining some of the 5 wavelengths:
- Mode 1 – blue light – for acne treatment
- Mode 2 – red light (630nm + 660nm) – for skin healing, wounds, anti-aging, eczema, psoriasis, and more
- Mode 3 – combines all 5 wavelengths, which immediately increases the strength (irradiance), and it is the most holistic mode.
- Pulsing mode – each treatment mode can be used in a pulsing. To get the pulsing action you press the button for 3 seconds.
Pulsing red light therapy uses light pulsing frequencies to achieve therapeutic effects, which may be more effective than constant red light therapy for some conditions. Still, there is no sufficient scientific data to confirm this claim.
How Do You Use It?
To use the UTK Red Light Therapy Device you’ll have to fully charge it first (it comes with 2 rechargeable batteries and a USB charger).
When the light turns green, it means the battery is fully charged.
Then put on the eye protection goggles you have inside the carrying case, and turn on the device by pressing the power button.
The first treatment mode will turn on (combined 5 wavelengths).
To change the treatment mode to red (630+660nm) you press the button again, and for blue – once more.
Choose your target area (muscle knot/joint pain/eczema spot/wound/inflamed area) and the treatment mode. I recommend the 5-wavelength mode and experimenting with pulsing.
👉 For skin rejuvenation, anti-aging, and wound healing – the second mode (red) is best.
The device is designed for direct contact with the skin, and while instructions say you need to keep it 1 inch away from you, I use it directly on the skin with no problems.
(However, for healing an open wound, keep it at a safe distance of one inch)
Then you need to move the device in a circular motion for 3 minutes.
After the 3 minutes are up, the device will shut off automatically.
These 3 minutes are enough, but you can use it up to 3 times daily to boost the results.
Don’t use it for more than 3 minutes before letting it rest for at least 1 minute, to prevent overheating.
What Else Can You Use It for?
Other than the general uses I’ve mentioned, you can also use the UTK LED Light Therapy Device for brain injuries (studies have proven that pulsing red light therapy can help heal brain injuries and Alzheimer’s).
You can also use it for under-eye puffiness and dark circles, cold sores, diabetic wounds, neuropathy numbness and pain in hands and feet, hair growth, and much more.
For hair growth, you can point the torch to a balding spot on your scalp for 3 minutes once a day, or move it in a circular motion around a thinning-hair area – up to 4 times a week.
You can expect hair growth results only after a couple of months of continuous use, but it is much more effective to use a laser hair growth cap or a laser hair comb.
Many people report remarkable results.
How Strong is the Light?
Do not let the small size and the low weight of the UTK red light therapy torch fool you.
At a 1-inch distance, you’ll get about 158 mW irradiance, which is much more than any LED light therapy mask, red light therapy wand, and even some red light therapy panels.
Irradiance refers to the amount of light energy that is emitted by the device and reaches your skin.
Imagine you’re watering your garden with a hose. The amount of water that comes out of the hose and reaches your plants is similar to irradiance.
If you open the tap just a little, the water flow is low. This is like low irradiance in red light therapy.
On the other hand, if you open the tap wide, the water flow is strong, and a lot of water reaches the plants.
This is similar to high irradiance in red light therapy.
How Does It Feel?
The 3-minute treatment of the UTK Red Light Therapy Device is pleasant and painless, and if I use the combined mode, it gets a bit pleasantly warm after about 1 minute, thanks to the near-infrared wavelengths. Sometimes it tingles a bit.
If I use it on my face I use a LED light therapy serum to prevent possible temporary dryness.
The skin feels smoother immediately after each treatment, and sometimes a slight temporary redness appears, which proves the increased blood circulation in the area.
While the device requires some effort, a 3-minute treatment is a low-effort one, and you can do it anywhere, including at work, while traveling, watching TV, and more – the possibilities are endless.
I use it before going to sleep and it feels soothing and relaxing.
When Can You Expect Results?
Some people feel an immediate effect after just a couple of days of 3 treatments daily, especially for wound healing, skin issues (such as eczema and psoriasis), and joint pain relief.
Each session causes your collagen matrix to subtly contract and boosts your cell metabolism and thus regeneration. In between sessions, your skin and deeper tissues heal and regenerate thanks to the boost of blood circulation and energy.
You can expect significant results in about 3 weeks. However, it is important to note that consistency is key when using red light therapy, and it may take several weeks or even months to get the best results.
I have no doubt that you’ll monitor your results, and if you are using it for a skin issue – make sure to take a before and after picture after a couple of weeks.
UTK Red Light Therapy Device Results
I used (and keep using) the UTK Red Light Therapy Device mainly for my psoriasis flares, the occasional muscle knot in my lower back, for wound healing (mainly for my highly active boys), and for a post-surgery wound my dog has.
I noticed very good results with my elbow psoriasis. After only 2 days it has reduced redness and itching significantly, and the patch is brighter, doesn’t itch at all, and there is no new scaling appearing.
As for muscle pain, and knee pain – I usually feel an almost-immediate effect. I use it before going to sleep and wake up pain-free and with a reduced or non-existent knot.
The wound on my dog’s neck is healing nicely and quite rapidly.
The device also solved a problem with one of the absorbable sutures which refused to be absorbed and kept the wound open while the dog kept scratching it.
It is now absorbed and the skin is healed.
If you to treat larger body areas such as large muscle groups or chronic conditions (such as fibromyalgia and arthritis) – you’ll need a larger red/infrared device such as a red light therapy mat, a red light therapy panel, or an infrared heating pad.
Larger red light therapy devices require zero effort and offer larger coverage, and you don’t need to manually move the device around the target area.

Negatives
I do not have many complaints about the UTK device, but one of the things I don’t like is the charging time. It takes about 4-6 hours to fully charge the battery.
On the other hand, you have an extra battery to use while you are charging the first one.
Sometimes I want to use the device for more than 3 minutes (especially for pain relief), but I have to wait a couple of minutes before turning it on again to prevent overheating.
Plus, if I leave it in my pocket it can get turned up by mistake, which then wastes the battery.
Lastly, it would be better to have another treatment mode where only the red & near-infrared can be used – without the blue light wavelength.
Safety
Red light therapy has been proven to be generally safe for everyone and all skin types, there are no UV rays inside, and in any way, this device is not strong enough to harm anyone.
It is FDA-registered and was tested for safety and effectiveness.
The UTK low-level laser device is safe for pets (and horses) as well, I use it to speed up post-surgery wound healing for my dog, and it works wonderfully.
My dog seems to like it and sits still until the beep goes off.
The UTK company is an established brand that manufactures many red & infrared light therapy devices and there are hundreds of positive testimonials about their products online.
I have had the UTK excellent infrared light therapy pad (reviewed here) for 5 years now and it still works the same as it did on the first day.
It serves my entire family constantly– to prevent and treat the cold and the flu, for muscle and joint pain relief, to replenish energy and vitality, and much more.
UTK Red Light Therapy Device Review Summary
The UTK red light therapy torch is easy to operate and use, can be taken with you anywhere, and does not require a power outlet. All of these factors make it easy to be consistent with red light therapy treatments – which is key to the best results.
The effort level is low since it only requires 3 minutes of treatment, and the device’s strength is high and effective. On the other hand, it is only suited only for small treatment areas such as localized pain spots, and facial skin.
I’m having great results with speeding up wound healing and reducing psoriasis symptoms significantly. And, I believe I’ve seen reduced pigmentation in the skin areas I’m treating.
On the other hand, if you try to use it on larger areas, such as larger muscle groups, cellulite areas, or the entire face – it will take a lot of your time.
Price and Warranty
UTK sells all of its products on Amazon, where you’ll find the best price for them. The current price for the UTK red light therapy device is $69.89, which is much lower than competing red light therapy torches that are more expensive, less powerful, and offer fewer wavelengths.
As for trial and warranty, you get the standard 30-day return Amazon offers, and the company gives you a 1-year warranty.
From personal experience, I can tell you that the UTK company will help you with any problems you may have with their products – long after the warranty is up.
To your health and happiness,
